Therapy process is a collaboration of a client and therapist on behalf of the client’s goals for therapy. Commitment on both sides of this collaboration is important.
There are many scientific attempts to predict the effectiveness of therapy, to increase chances that the clients will receive the best support. According to a summary of 50-years of studies of Client-Centered Therapy (Bozarth, 2002), therapy effectiveness depended on a variety of factors: quality of the relationship of the client and therapist (30%), the resources of the client (40%), therapeutic techniques (15%), and placebo effect (15%).
We as therapists are committed to our part of a therapeutic process by creating a safe, empathetic, non-judgemental therapeutic space and trust. We are committed to an ongoing professional training and continuing education to ensure we have a toolbox with a variety of therapeutic techniques that could be helpful depending on the unique needs of our clients.
