How we work
Couples therapy begins with an initial meeting with a therapist to establish goals and expectations.
Depending on these goals and the dynamics of your relationship, the course of marriage and couples counseling may include sessions with both partners present, as well as individual meetings with each partner.

Couples therapy can be enriched by incorporating play and creativity into the therapeutic process. This approach helps to bring relationships to life and fosters deeper connections beyond words.
Couples therapy typically involves four stages:
Setting therapy goals and creating a therapeutic space.
1
Developing new levels of awareness and competencies, and working through issues.
2
Integrating these new developments into everyday life.
3
Concluding therapy and ensuring a supportive transition.

FAQ
About the couples therapy
If we have already decided to divorce, could couples therapy be beneficial?
Yes, absolutely. Even if you have decided to divorce, couples therapy can still be highly beneficial. It might seem counterintuitive, but therapy can assist with several important aspects, such as co-parenting, achieving emotional closure, and navigating post-divorce interactions and shared responsibilities. Therapy can transform a challenging situation into an opportunity for growth and pave the way for better future interactions.
Would couples therapy help if only one partner wants it?
Some partners attend therapy not because they personally see the need for it, but out of respect for their partner’s wish to try it. During the first meeting, the therapist will help assess whether couples therapy is a good fit. This initial conversation can identify goals that are beneficial for both partners. The therapist will facilitate a dialogue about each partner’s needs, which may help you both decide what is best at this time.
