About EMDR Therapy
EMDR is a psychotherapy technique that can alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) was developed by Francine Shapiro, Ph.D. clinical psychologist in the late 1980s. The goal is to help the brain process and integrate traumatic memories, reducing their lingering effects and allowing for healthier emotional responses.

FAQ
About the EMDR Therapy
Is there research on how effective EMDR therapy?
EMDR therapy has been validated by over 20 randomized controlled clinical trials. The California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare has accepted EMDR therapy as an evidence-based approach for children.
What is EMDR therapy for children like?
EMDR therapy is proven to be helpful for children, teens, and adults. Child EMDR therapy is always combined with play and creative activities, as this is a natural way for children to communicate, express themselves, and heal.

Additionally, parents might be involved in the child's EMDR sessions to ensure that parental support continues at home.
How long is the EMDR Therapy session?
EMDR Therapy sessions may be longer, to ensure there is enough time for trauma reprocessing. Usually, an EMDR session can last between 50 and 90 minutes.
How many EMDR sessions are needed to recover from trauma?
EMDR therapy is considered to be time-efficient and sometimes is called “rapid trauma reprocessing”. Often, trauma can be resolved in a short number of sessions in comparison with traditional talk therapy. We can’t predict how many sessions will be required to address your concerns.
