What is this course about?
The Assagioli's Basic Model of the Person will be presented, followed by the exploration of the psychosynthesis concepts associated with aspects of the model.

This will include:

  • the levels of the unconscious
  • the stages of psychosynthesis
  • subpersonalities
  • disidentification
  • the psychosynthesis developmental model
  • “I” and Self
  • Self-realization
Each theoretical piece will be paired with an experiential exercise, lending to a learning that is not simply the acquisition of knowledge, but a learning that is deeply personal.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the history of psychosynthesis and its place in the field of transpersonal psychology.
  • List the elements of Assagioli’s basic model of the person.
  • Explain the differences between the three levels of the unconscious.
  • Describe what subpersonalities are and their origins.
  • Describe one’s own prominent subpersonalities as well as identify several major ones in another individual.
  • Describe the relationship between conflicting subpersonalities.
  • Explain “I," the essence of who we are.
  • Compare the difference between disidentification and dissociation.
  • Explain the impact of wounding, as presented in the development model.
  • Describe survival unifying centers and explain the internalization of them.
  • Demonstrate the role of authentic unifying centers in an individual’s life, both those of the past and those in the present.
  • Discuss how addictions and compulsions are linked to our wounding.
  • Describe the higher unconscious, the repressed potential in us.
  • Explain the concept of Self in psychosynthesis, and its relationship with “I.”
  • Explain the difference between the “call” of Self (Self-realization) and the demands of strong personality elements.

Presenter

Svetlana studied Psychosynthesis Therapy at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now Sofia University). Currently, she is an adjunct faculty at Sofia University MACP program. Svetlana enjoys sharing her knowledge with colleagues.
